there's definitely no cross play for steam, I believe that the only cross play is for consoles and gamepads PC. as for save transferring, I tried the game when it was free on the EGS, and when I bought it on steam my save transferred over immediately without any input from me, so I would assume it's the same for gamepads/steam saves.
Also, the Steam version now opens a browser window asking me to log into Epic, which seems like a bug. EDIT: Thanks to the Reddit user that got this fixed for me: "Go to AppData\\Local\\Remnant\\Saved\\Config\\WindowsNoEditor and delete Engine.ini, that should fix the DLC for Steam"
